With the exponential expansion of Facebook for networking with friends and the resurgence of LinkedIn for professional networking, the meme of networking is deeply wedged into our everyday experience. Yet, there is a third form of networking - strategic - that is little known and even less understood. Whether we are trying to figure out our professional priorities, understand future trends, assist clients in their user research, or gathering stakeholder support for new initiatives, strategic networking is a critical component of our personal development. Building on the foundation of Ibarra and Hunter's "How Leaders Create and Use Networks," we'll explore ways to use strategic networking to learn, to extend the reach of who knows you, and to better manage and motivate your key talent.
