Are you a recognized design leader and innovator? An experienced designer with high-level hands-on design skills? Do you succeed through creativity, collaboration, and execution? Are you able to contribute to early concepts and ideas, then drive compelling user scenarios, uncompromising user experience, quality design execution, and optimal customer experiences?

A unique opportunity exists to join an innovative and high-performing team in the Startup Business Group. SBG is focused on building high-potential startup products, services, and businesses that contribute substantial long-term user and customer value to Microsoft. Our concepts and ideas come from a variety of sources, from MSR to product teams to our own personnel. Our work spans designing for Windows, Web, and Mobile; for Consumer and for Business. Our diverse UX team calls for a variety of skills and expertise for: hardware and industrial design, high-touch consumer products, data analysis and presentation (including 2D and 3D visualization), tagging and mobile shopping-assistance for retail environments.

In this case, we seek a senior designer with a broad set of skills. A designer with experience delivering visual design, scalable information architecture, and useful, usable, and desirable interaction models. In particular, we seek to round out our design team with an interaction designer with experience in productivity applications and data presentation and visualization.

We are looking for an interaction designer leader who can:
•       Drive the design of product scenarios from initial concept through final implementation

•       Understand how to utilize customer and user research to drive design decisions

•       Build respect and credibility with stakeholders, fellow designers, program managers, and developers

•       Embrace ambiguity, articulate tradeoffs, meet challenging deadlines

•       Clearly and persuasively communicate and present design concepts and solutions

•       Illustrate a command of common design and prototyping methods and tools

Qualifications:

•       All candidates must provide a resume, an online portfolio, and relevant work samples along with inquiries

•       5+ years of experience in product/web/interaction design

•       Corporate experience preferred in addition to agency or other experience

•       Strong interaction design experience: information architecture, navigation system, and page patterns and common controls

•       Strong visual design experience: development of new look and feel programs, brand implementation, composition, layout hierarchy, typography, and color

•       Proven ability to drive complex design issues across organizations and disciplines

•       Bachelor’s or Master’s in HCI, interaction design, or related field preferred. May be substituted with significant industry experience and accomplishments.
