Working with an interactive project manager, strategist, art director, and technical lead, the user experience architect participates throughout the project process and is responsible for the final user experience strategy and associated tactics. The user experience architect greatly influences the direction of a wide variety of interactive project types, such as interactive storytelling, consumer product and e-commerce experiences, web applications, and information portals.     Essential Functions:

     

    Project Responsibilities

    ·       Collaborate with the team and client to understand and document project requirements while advocating for the user.

    Motion Capture Lab Moderator

    The Xbox team is currently in need of a Motion Capture Lab Moderator to prepare and facilitate daily recording sessions that collect data from human subjects. A strong understanding of human subject research and strong customer relations skills are essential to this position. Knowledge of video games is highly desirable. This position is filled through contract (or “temp”) agencies. Motion Capture Lab Moderators are employees of their respective contract agencies, not Microsoft.

    Responsibilities

    1.     Identify and schedule participants to be captured in the motion capture lab

    2.     Prepare, distribute, and collect printed forms and other materials used by motion capture lab participants (including legal documents such as nondisclosure agreements).

    3.     Prepare lab equipment, including computers and motion capture equipment.

    4.     Meet groups of participants, and escort them into and out of the lab. Some of the work with be composed on site at Microsoft, some will be in participants homes.

    5.     Recruit internal applicants for playtest sessions

    6.     Facilitate motion capture sessions, which involves:

    a.     Providing explicit directions to the participants

    b.     Interacting appropriately with participants and ensuring they follow the directed tasks

    c.     Solving technical and research problems “on-the-fly” with little or no direction

    d.     Performing data entry about details of the recording sessions

    Time Commitment

    1.     Hours typically extend through the full day during the week. Typical shift times are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

    2.     The contract will last approximately 3-4 months as an A-, then move into a contract working for TEKsystems managed services indefinitely (no 100 day break required)

    Required Qualifications

    1.     Strong working knowledge of human subjects research

    2.     Strong customer relations skills

    3.     Effective communications skills

    4.     Strong working knowledge of spreadsheet, e-mail, and word processing software

    5.     Works effectively without direct supervision

    We are looking for a creative and resourceful Mobile User Experience Researcher with strong research design skills. Naturally, we want someone who can think outside (and inside) the box and provide fresh thought leadership, but we are also looking for an individual who will complement the team in ways we haven’t even imagined.     The Mobile User Experience Researcher is responsible for crafting the research design, conducting the study, and delivering findings for a variety of user experience research studies Chase’s mobile products.

    The minimal requirement is that you can demonstrate experience and expertise designing and conducting UX research.

    Usability

    • Identify usability issues based on heuristic and statistical analyses. Be able to drop your self-assured geek persona and embrace the novice user within (at least in short bursts).
    • Electrify project teams with concise reports and brilliantly prepared presentations under tight deadlines while juggling six balls (and a chain saw) with the other hand.
    • “Synergize” with our exceptional interaction and visual designers to further improve information architecture, site navigation, labels, and other design elements.
    • Perform other miracles and mythic feats as assigned, then figure out what else needs to be done.

    EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • 5+ years of usability research experience with multifaceted responsibilities. We prefer Web experience, but are more concerned with your ability to adapt and think on your feet.
    • Related experience in another field such as interactive design, information architecture, and/or market research is a plus. 
    • Strong understanding of user interface design practices and principles a mustundefinedbetter still if you can demonstrate experience relating to Mobile usability research.
    • M.A. or Ph.D. in human computer interaction, cognitive psychology, anthropology, or related field considered an advantage. Equivalent experience accepted.
    • Extensive knowledge of usability and user experience research tools and techniques (e.g. field research, heuristic reviews, benchmarking, card sorts, lo-fidelity prototyping methods, etc.) as well as strong project management and negotiating skills are central to the position. 
    • Solid experience with MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel a must. Knowledge of OvoStudios, Morae, Photoshop, SharePoint, Visio, iRise or other prototyping tools are additionally advantageous.
    • Strong communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills required. Your ability to demonstrate success in these areas should quickly become obvious.

    • Identify usability issues based on heuristic and statistical analyses. Be able to drop your self-assured geek persona and embrace the novice user within (at least in short bursts).
    • Electrify project teams with concise reports and brilliantly prepared presentations under tight deadlines while juggling six balls (and a chain saw) with the other hand.
    • "Synergize" with our exceptional interaction and visual designers to further improve information architecture, site navigation, labels, and other design elements.
    Perform other miracles and mythic feats as assigned, then figure out what else needs to be done.

    Qualifications:
    • 5+ years of usability research experience with multifaceted responsibilities. We strongly prefer canadiates with mobile experience, but are more concerned with your ability to adapt and think on your feet.
    • Related experience in another field such as interactive design, information architecture, and/or market research is a plus.  
    • Strong understanding of user interface design practices and principles a must-better still if you can demonstrate experience relating to Mobile usability research.
    • M.A. or Ph.D. in human computer interaction, cognitive psychology, anthropology, or related field considered an advantage. Equivalent experience accepted.
    • Extensive knowledge of usability and user experience research tools and techniques (e.g. field research, heuristic reviews, benchmarking, card sorts, lo-fidelity prototyping methods, Multivariate testing, etc.) as well as strong project management and negotiating skills are central to the position.  
    • Solid experience with MS PowerPoint, Word, and Excel a must. Knowledge of OvoStudios, Morae, Photoshop, SharePoint, Visio, iRise or other prototyping tools are additionally advantageous.
    • Strong communication, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills required. Your ability to demonstrate success in these areas should quickly become obvious.  
    • Ability to communicate research results, graphically depict data, and justify methods and approaches-orally and in writing-considered a good thing (wild gesturing optional).
    • Strong moderation skills and methods for group facilitation and consensus building are better than chocolate.
